Crowds in Philadelphia took to the streets to celebrate Joe Biden defeating President Trump to become the next commander in chief, just after the announcement was made Saturday.

Outside City Hall, drivers beeped their horns and openly cheered after Pennsylvania was called for Biden, video posted to Twitter shows.

“One girl was standing up in the sunroof cheering,” Buzzfeed reporter Amber Jamieson tweeted alongside video of the celebrations.

Hundreds of Biden supporters also gathered outside the Philadelphia Convention Center, where people waved flags, and danced to “YMCA” and “Eye of the Tiger” in between chants of “this is what democracy looks like.”

Revelers said they were proud their city overwhelmingly cast votes for the former vice-president.

“I’m feeling overjoyed and happy Pennsylvania is in the spotlight. There is huge support for the city of Philadelphia,” said Ellen Ryan, 56, an urban developer who showed up to the downtown celebrations with her daughter and cardboard cutouts of Biden and Kamala Harris’ faces.

Cameron Skowronaki, 21, who works in the Philadelphia public health department, said the city “made history.”

“I’m hoping to see some reform and more inclusivity within the county. It gives me joy to say ex-President Donald Trump,” Skowronaki said gleefully. “Biden will manage the pandemic — I’m free!”

A smaller group of about 50 Trump supporters, separated from the Biden backers by police barricades, countered the celebrations, waving Trump-Pence flags and blasting Guns N’ Roses’ “Paradise City.”

In New York, people thanked Philadelphians for helping elect Biden, who scored a 50-percent increase in the Democratic victory margin in Philly’s four surrounding suburban counties from Hillary Clinton’s in 2016.

“Just witnessed possibly the one and only time somebody will yell ‘F–k yeah, Philly!’ at a person in a Phillies shirt in NYC,” Twitter user Jason Diamond wrote.

Biden was announced as the projected winner of the 2020 presidential election Saturday after a painstaking vote-count was completed in Pennsylvania, where he secured 20 electoral votes to clinch a victory
