San Antonio police searched Jefferson High School Tuesday afternoon, September 20, after false reports of a shooting sent the school into a lockdown, but videos posted online show parents clashed with officers outside the school as they reportedly tried to get inside to retrieve their children. A video posted to Twitter shows an officer throw one man to the ground to detain him.

That man reportedly injured his arm trying break a window at Jefferson High School, the Express-News reported. A crowd of parents then pushed up against the group of officers detaining the man, who is seen bleeding profusely before being carried away.

MySA did not receive a response to a request for comment from San Antonio ISD, but the Express-News reported the man was not arrested.

SAPD said in an emailed statement about the incident that some individuals "became unruly" and a man with a knife broke a window, and the man cut his arm in the process and was taken to the ground by officers and was restrained. The man was later taken to the hospital with "non-life-threatening" injuries.

The statement also says faculty members were treated by EMS at the scene, but did not describe the extent of injuries.

In a tweet, State Rep. Diego Bernal claimed the school as his alma mater and described another video of officers clashing with parents as, "The new normal in a [sic] Texas."

At the root of Tuesday's conflict were fears stemming from the May 24 mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. Videos taken outside the school show parents pleading with local officers to let them into the school to rescue their children during a standoff that lasted more than an hour.

Uvalde and state law enforcement have since been criticized by families of the victims for their slow response to the shooting, where a gunman killed 19 students and two teachers.
