Men's Hockey Returns to Non-Conference Action Friday at Holy Cross - Brown University Athletics

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (3-5-0, 2-5-0 ECAC) return to non-conference play to take on the Holy Cross Crusaders (6-6-2, 3-6-2 AHA) on Friday in Worcester, Massachusetts.
 
Friday's game at the Hart Center is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will stream on FloHockey and broadcast on NESN+.
 
SCOUTING THE BEARS
  • Brown enters Friday with a 3-5-0 overall record and 2-5-0 ECAC mark. Three of Brown's conference losses have come in overtime.
  • Max Scott leads the Bears with eight assists and 10 points. Ryan St. Louis leads the squad with eight goals. Four other Bears have five or more points through eight games.
  • Brown's power play clicks at 18.5% (5-27) to rank 34th in the country. Brown's penalty kill enters Friday at 81% (17-21) to rank 32nd.
  • Between the pipes, Lawton Zacher holds a 2.25 goals against average and .926 save percentage in five starts.
SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
  • Holy Cross enters Friday with a 6-6-2 overall record and 3-6-2 Atlantic Hockey record.
  • The Crusaders took consecutive 2-0 wins over Bentley last weekend before falling to Army on Tuesday.
  • Jack Ricketts leads Holy Cross with six goals and eight assists for 14 points. Liam McLinskey also has eight assists. Ten Crusaders have five or more points through 14 games.
  • The Crusader power play has 12 goals in 68 attempts (17.6%) to rank 37th in the NCAA.
  • Defensively, Holy Cross allows 2.2 goals per game to rank fifth in the nation. Goaltender Thomas Gale holds a 1.84 goals against average and .938 save percentage in six starts.
  • The Holy Cross penalty kill clicks at 85.5% (59-69) to rank 18th in the NCAA.
INSIDE THE SERIES
  • Friday marks the 15th meeting between Brown and Holy Cross in a series dating back to 1928. Both teams have won seven games in the series.
  • It marks the ninth meeting since the 2011-12 season with Holy Cross holding a 5-3 record in those games.

  • With 5.5 penalty minutes per game, Brown is the least penalized team in the nation.

  • Freshman Lawton Zacher returned to action last weekend and continued his strong start to the season.
  • In five starts, Zacher holds a 2.25 goals against average and .926 save percentage.
  • His goals against average ranks second among freshmen in the NCAA, fourth in the ECAC, and 16th nationally.
  • His save percentage leads NCAA freshmen, ranks second in the ECAC, and tenth nationally.
HOT START
  • Max Scott leads the Bears with eight assists and 10 points through eight games.
  • With 1.25 points per game, Scott is tied for second in the ECAC, 20th in the NCAA, and fifth among freshmen.
  • With 1.00 assists per game, Scott is tied for first in the ECAC, tied for sixth nationally, and tied for third among freshmen in the country.
GOAL MAN
  • Sophomore Ryan St. Louis leads the Bears with eight goals in eight games.
  • St. Louis is tied for first in the NCAA with 1.00 goals per game and is one of 20 players in the country with a hat trick.
