Senior running back Peter Oliver of the Holy Cross football team is a finalist for the 2022 Doris Robinson Award, as announced by Stats Perform.
Named after the late school teacher and wife of legendary Grambling State coach Eddie Robinson, the eighth annual award is presented to an FCS student-athlete who excels not only on the playing field and in the classroom, but in the community and beyond.
Oliver is one of 15 finalists nationwide for the award, and the lone representative from the Patriot League.
Oliver is a four-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree as a chemistry and Spanish double major; he is additionally a three-time All-Patriot League selection and a four-time Academic All-District honoree.
He earned first team All-Patriot League honors in 2022 after rushing for 785 yards on 129 carries for an average of 6.1 yards per carry, with five total touchdowns. He scored a pair of touchdowns in Holy Cross' win against Fordham. Oliver currently ranks fifth in career program history with 2,423 career rushing yards. This season, he is a finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy.
Oliver and the Crusaders (11-0, 6-0 Patriot League) return to action on Saturday, Dec. 3 in an NCAA FCS second-round playoff matchup. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at Fitton Field.
